Wilson Mays Jr Obituary

Wilson Mays Jr, 86, of Georgetown, OH, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at the Clermont Mercy Hospital. He was born February 15, 1934 in Irvine, KY, son of the late Wilson Mays Sr. and Cleota (Metcalf) Mays.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957 as a medic ambulance driver.  He worked as a home improvement contractor with his brothers until he went to work for General Motors in Norwood where he retired after 22 ½ years.  Wilson was a member of the Church of God Cleveland Assembles.  He was also an ordained minister, an evangelist, a church planter (a new church establishment), and a pastor, all over a 50 year span.  Wilson and his wife Myrtle wrote over 60 songs, some of which were recorded.

Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife Myrtle Mays in 2017, and 9 brothers and sisters.

Wilson is survived by sons, Larry Wilson Mays (Trudy) of Georgetown, Wayne Linn Mays of Georgetown; daughters, Norma Jean Cable (Larry R) of Winchester, KY, Kimberly Gail Chapman (Mark) of Peebles; brother, Glendon Mays of Irvine, KY; grandchildren, Matthew Cable (Jessica), Nathaniel Cable, Michael Mays, Crystal Vincent (Bill), Nicole and Amber Chapman; great grandchildren, Marley Jane, Kendra, Alissa, Zoey, Isaiah, McKenna, Keegan and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life service on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Living Church of Five Mile, 16908 US 68, Mt. Orab, OH 45154.
