William "Butch" Woolard Obituary

William G. “Butch” Woolard, 79, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024 at his residence.  He was born May 2, 1944 in Manchester, son of the late William “Bill” and Georgia Yates Woolard.  He was the widower of the late Sherry Satterfield Woolard who passed away in 2013.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Troy Woolard in 2021; brother, Jimmy Woolard and a sister, Kathy Welch.

Butch was the Publisher/Owner of the Manchester Signal for 37 years and was a part of this family business for many years prior.  He, along with his wife, Sherry, also ran the Manchester Boat Dock and Campground for several years.  Butch was a former Council Member for Manchester as well as an Auxiliary Police Officer.  Butch was saved by his Savior Jesus Christ several years ago and became a member of New Beginning Church.  Every Thursday night, he and Dale Little would travel around the county and go to hospitals praying with folks and help them find love in Jesus.  He was a very athletic individual with a strong sports mindset and was a coach for several years because of it.  In his younger days, he enjoyed hunting and managed several Rock-n-Roll bands. Butch had a passion for classic cars and enjoyed attending car shows as well as rod runs.  He also had a love for dogs, especially his K-9 sidekick, Marley. His love of his family topped it all.  He loved every minute he spent with them and enjoyed going to family gatherings

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Nicki (Larry) Pollitt; his companion of 4 ½ years, Betty Henderson; grandchildren, Mikayla (Zach Overstreet) Pollitt, Rylan (Kelsey) Woolard and Nick Woolard; great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Malorie Woolard, Ledger and Brooks Overstreet; sister, Sue (John) Dryden; his K-9 sidekick, Marley as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 AM, until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 PM, Sunday, March 24, 2024 at Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W.
