Virgil Cantrell

Virgil Cantrell, age 82 years of West Union, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the Hospice of Hope in Maysville, Kentucky. Virgil was born November 6, 1943 in West Liberty, Kentucky to the late Auty & Victoria (Wright) Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son Robbie Cantrell, granddaughter Amber Cantrell & two brothers Elmer & Junior Cantrell.

Survivors include his wife Phyllis Cantrell of West Union; daughter Melissa Bailey & Michael of Seaman; son Ray Cantrell & Sheila of West Union; daughter-in-law Toby Cantrell of Seaman; sisters Rosie, Maudie, Irene, Nancy, Ruthie & Aline; brothers Charles, Lonnie, Ronnie & Robert; grandchildren Tyler, Aleisha, Tracey, Amanda, Megan, Elizabeth, Brandon, Joshua & Jordan and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 2, 2026 at Noon at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union, with Tim Carter officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Fork Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am till the time of the service. Services are entrusted to the Thompson-Meeker Funeral.
