Velma M. (Creighton) Shelton

Velma M. Shelton, age 93 of Georgetown, Ohio passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at her residence. She was born January 28, 1931 in Glendale, OH, daughter of the late Earl and Edna Creighton. She was a cook at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  She also was a member of the Apple Street Church and loved running the food pantry for the church. Velma and her daughter Patricia would travel every day for it except for Sundays.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Layfette Shelton; sons, Jimmy James Shelton and George Steven Shelton and 10 brothers and sisters.

Velma is survived by children; Patricia Shelton and Jeff Shelton both of Georgetown; grandchildren, Lisa (Jeremy) Snider, Steven (Christy) Shelton, Jeffrey (Abby) Shelton Jr., and James Robert Shelton; great grandchildren, Heather, Kara, Cameron, Thomas and Ginelle; several great-great grandchildren; brother, Jim (Linda) Creighton and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Apple Street Church, 300 N. Apple St, Georgetown, OH with Pastor Bobby Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Buford Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 12 PM.  The Meeker Funeral Home in Russellville is handling the arrangements.
