Rebecca (Becky) Grooms, 68, Manchester passed from this life on April 23rd, 2022. Born February 13th 1954, Becky was preceded in death by her husband David Grooms, her parents George William and Frances Louise Hughes (Frye) of Manchester; her brother, Lonnie Gene Kirk of Manchester; and her sister, Bonnie Sue Gulley (Hughes) of Cincinnati. Becky is survived by her sons, Jason and Chassity Lucas of Clayton and David and Christina Grooms of Batavia; her beloved grandchildren Yasmin, Quentin, Joselyn, Brock, Harper and Kinsley; her brother George and Marie Hughes of Union City, Indiana and Manchester; and her sister Diana K. Eckhardt (Hughes) and Daniel Eckhardt of Miamisburg, Ohio. She was also recently preceded in death by her trusted companion Harley (her dog).
Becky was a life-long residence of Manchester and attended Manchester High School graduating in 1972. She was a long-time employee of the Ayres Eat & Treat in Manchester. She was a strong advocate of animal causes including support of The Humane Society of Adams County and other organizations. She shared pictures of dogs and other animals via social media, ensuring abandoned or otherwise lost pets were able to find good forever homes. Becky attended the Church of the Nazarene in Manchester. Becky had the most gibing heart and kindest soul, and it showed as she always did whatever she could to whomever was lucky enough to engage with her giving nature. Becky will be sadly missed by her family and her many, many friends.
Family and friends will be received for viewing at noon, Thursday April 28th at the Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W. Second Street in Manchester. Pastor Owen Applegate will officiate the funeral service at 1p.m. Interment will immediately follow at the Manchester Cemetery.
