Orville R. Hughes

Orville R. Hughes, age 65 years of Manchester, Ohio passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023. Orville was born June 8, 1957 in Maysville, Kentucky to the late James Russell & Mable Lucille (Long) Hughes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kylie Sue Lucas and Mother-in-Law Karen Hayslip.

Orville was a huge supporter of Manchester Athletics. It didn’t matter if he had grandkids involved or not. If there was a game, you most likely saw Orville there. Most of the kids just knew him as “Papaw Orville”. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and being involved with them and their activities. Upon retirement, he enjoyed helping his granddaughter raise and show her fair pigs. He will be missed by many.

Survivors include his wife Twila Hughes of Manchester; sons Michael G. Lucas & Monica of Winchester; Matthew A. Lucas & Kendra of West Union; Hayley J. Hughes of Plan City, FL; Andrew R. Hughes of Manchester; brothers Jim Hughes & Vickie Davies of Manchester; Wendall Hughes & Lois of Manchester; Gary Hughes & Mary of Manchester; Grandchildren Gage G. Lucas, Gavin M. Lucas, Colin W. Frier, Aaron M. Lucas, Abigail K.F. Lucas, Lucy Dickson, Hadley Lewis; Father-in-Law Ralph Hayslip of Manchester; many nieces and nephews.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at the Manchester Church of The Nazarene on Wednesday, February 1 2023 at 7:00 P.M., visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. before the service. The Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union is serving the family.
