Mike Koenig

Michael Koenig, 54, of West Union, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2025 at his residence.  He was born January 10, 1971 in Landstuhl, Germany, son of the late Michael Koenig Sr. and Judith Lewis Koenig.  He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Julie Newland.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Koenig.  

Mike had a deep love for the outdoors and found peace in nature. He enjoyed spending time fishing, hunting, and he especially cherished his quiet moments in the woods, camera in hand, capturing the beauty of the world around him. His passion for photography reflected the way he saw life — full of wonder, simplicity, and appreciation for the small things that make each day meaningful.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Michael Shane (Kathleen) Koenig, Brian Newland, William (Jessica) Newland and Robert (Angelica) Newland; 12 grandchildren and his brothers, Daniel (Josh McElfresh) and Jason Koenig.  

Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 11:00 AM, until the time of service at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home, 216 W. Mulberry St., West Union.  Burial will follow at Moores Chapel Cemetery in Blue Creek.
