Mary Shumaker Obituary

Mary “Janie” Shumaker, age 78 years of Winchester, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Mary was born November 25, 1942 to the late Arthur Glenn and Livata Faye (Osman) Rhoads in Highland County Ohio. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two daughters Debbie Barr and Connie Gibson. And also, a grandson Scotty Shumaker.

Mary was a long-time member of the Oak Grove Community Church and loved to teach the small children. She and her husband Charles were married on June 5, 1971.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 50 years, Charles Shumaker of Winchester, OH; one daughter Vickie Hogge & Kevin of Peebles, OH; two sons Donnie Willis & Kim of Peebles, OH; Scott Shumaker of Winchester, OH; one sister Carolyn Blackburn & Bill of New Vienna, OH; daughter-in-law Peggy Shumaker of Winchster, OH; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Following cremation, a memorial service with food, will be held at the Winchester Church of Christ Gym on Sunday, March 21, 2021 from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. The Thompson-Meeker Funeral home in West Union is serving the family.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Charlie Shumaker or the Alzheimer’s Association.
