Mary Ione Rigdon, 91, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025 at the Villa Georgetown. She was born July 15, 1933 in Manchester, daughter of the late Noah F. and Nina Boone Rigdon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Rigdon, who passed away in 2002. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Rozanna Davenport (2016), Matthew Rigdon (2015), Carol Rollins (2018), Jeffrey Rigdon (2018), Jerry Rigdon (2018) and Rodger Rigdon (2022); granddaughter, Chasity Lane (2020); grandson, Nicholes Rigdon (2016); siblings, Bobbie, Ronnie, Lorean, Bessie, Noah Jr., William, Jerry and John .
Mary spent life, alongside her husband, farming and raising 11 children. She was also a homemaker who loved to cook and garden. She worked many years in local restaurants and had an unbelievable green thumb to tend to her beautiful flowers around her home every year. She also loved to sing and play guitar and sang at many churches and revivals over the years.
She is survived by her sons, Eugene (Alice) Rigdon Jr., Danny (Wesia) Rigdon and Michael Rigdon; daughters, Cindy Wright and Amanda (Brian) Shannon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, David (Rozelle) Rigdon and special nieces, Dessie Hampton and Judy Dryden.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 1:00 PM, until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W. Second St., Manchester. Pastor Luther Jolly will officiate. Burial will follow at Red Oak Cemetery.
