John "Rick" Raines

John (Rick) Raines of Seaman, Ohio, was born in Georgetown, Ohio on July 18, 1952 to the late John F. Raines and Miriam Smittle Raines and passed away on June 2, 2025 at 72 years of age. Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by two stepsons, Dusty Richmond and Justin Richmond.

Rick is survived by his son, Dillon Raines of Georgetown, Ohio; Stepdaughter, Alyssa (Shaun) Boggs, of Bainbridge, Ohio; Stepson Colt (Leigh) Richmond of Manchester, Ohio; Granddaughter Tenley Raines; one brother, Larry (Jackie) Raines of South Carolina; Aunts Darlene Doyle, Bethel, Ohio; Josephine Wilmoth, Texas; Bettie Raines, Seaman, Ohio and numerous cousins as well as many friends who considered Rick extended family.

Rick loved all his children more than anything and was so proud of them. He was a kind man; money never seemed to be important to him but he was generous with what he had if he saw someone in need.

Rick loved working with his hands and spent most of his working years as a contractor building and remodeling homes. He absolutely loved baseball and you always knew his radio was tuned to the Reds. And if he wasn’t at home sitting on his porch, he could be seen walking around town or passing the time of day with friends and family.

The family would like to thank the Seaman Life Squad, Curtis Anderson, and the many others in the community for their kindness and care of our beloved Rick. A special thank you goes out to Sue Horde and Rod Horde, Dale Rothwell and Dave Rothwell – we don’t have words for how much we appreciate you! Thank you, also, to everyone who has prayed, called, texted and sent cards. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated.

A celebration of Rick’s life is planned for Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm at the Seaman United Presbyterian Church, 17790 St. Rt. 247, Seaman, Ohio. Rev. Mike Hughes will officiate the service.
