Janice Faye (Peterson) Shelton passed away on December 13, 2025 at Hospice of Hope Care Center, Maysville, Kentucky. Janice turned 90 years old on November 24, 2025 at her residence of 8 years, Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Mary (Planck) Peterson; her husband of 48 years, Clarence Junior Shelton (9/26/1929 – 6/2/2002); and two infant daughters, Ellen (1957) and Carol (1959).
Janice is survived by her sister, Barbara (Peterson) Webb of Winter Garden, Florida; three children, Douglas Eugene and wife Teresa Shelton of Manchester, David Alan and wife Saundra Shelton of Winchester, Kentucky and Donna Faye and husband “Lynn” Newbraugh of Georgetown, Kentucky; 4 grandchildren, Jeremiah (Angel) Shelton, Elijah (Mary) Shelton, Mary (Jason) Cornell and Carol Newbraugh; 9 great-grandchildren, Thomas (17), Lucas (15), Legend (11), Sutton (9), Emma (8), Katelynn (8), Brian (7), Ally (6) and Lindsay (6).
Janice served as a Cub Scout Pack leader, Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader and band parent. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and all types of crafts. Janice decorated cakes for many years, making wedding cakes for all her children’s weddings. She always liked to be “on the go” and said “if I can get out of the driveway, I’m gone!”
Family and friends are invited to a funeral service at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at the Hickory Ridge Church, 9916 Hickory Ridge Rd., Manchester. Pastor Tom Hackney will officiate. Burial will follow there at Hickory Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home in Manchester.
