James “Donny” Thacker, 83, of Aberdeen, passed away, Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville, KY. He was born June 6, 1941, son of the late Roy and Mary Ruth Palmer Thacker. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy Francis Thacker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jay Thacker; sister, Phyllis Dryden and brother, Ken Thacker.
Donny honorably served his country in the National Guard. He loved going to ball games to watch the kids play. He enjoyed going to gun shows and loved hunting, fishing and going down to the parking lot and watching the river. He also adored spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Donna (Brian) Dryden of New Baden, IL and Debbie Godfrey of Virginia Beach; 3 brothers, Randy Thacker of Manchester, OH, Larry Thacker and Dave (Von) Thacker both of Fairborn, OH; 3 sisters, Wanda Keaton, Sheryl Kabler both of Fairborn, OH and Joanna (Peg) Hesler of Georgetown, OH; 8 grandchildren, Kelly (Jamie) Collins, Emily (Josh) Tener, Justice (Samantha) Dryden, Cierra (Brandon) Knox, Hailey Dryden, Jalyn Thacker, Katie and Dana; 16 great-grandchildren, Karlee, Kelly and Kanton Collins, Josh, Macy and Madison Tener, Adley and Ellen Dryden, Zaylee Knox, Logan, Zach, Madison, Abigal, McKenzie and Allyson; honorary grandchildren, Grayson Carrow and Roman Napier as well as 13 nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 12:00 PM, until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Wilson Funeral Home 35 W. Second St., Manchester. Pastor Tony Watson will officiate. Burial will follow at Manchester Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
