James Holton Land Born May 4, 1948
Better known as Jim Land or Shugs. Jim has held many titles during his life: son, brother, husband, dad, uncle, Shugs (grandfather), veteran, friend, and most importantly born-again Christian.
Jim was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served his country as a member of the United States Army Corp of Engineers 216th Battalion.
After finishing his tour in Vietnam Jim returned home and began working for Asplundh and then was one of the first employees at the Copeland Plant in West Union.
In 1972 Jim met the love of his life Dawn, they were married on February 10, 1973. Jim and Dawn began their life together in West Union and a year later they moved to Georgia. While in Georgia they welcomed their only daughter Brandi. A couple of years later they moved back to West Union and they had their three sons Danny, Keith, and Greg.
Jim held several jobs over the years, while in Georgia he worked as a mechanic for the Clayton County bus garage, after returning to Ohio he worked alongside his father at Lands Garage for several years. Jim also served in the Army National Guard as well as working for the USDA Soil and Water Conservation Department.
Jim enjoyed several different activities during his life, he was passionate about all things related to guns, knives, and horses. Jim loved to trail ride with his family and even after not being able to ride like he would have like you would never find him out without his cowboy hat. While he had his interests that he loved there was nothing he loved more than God, family, and country.
