George Frank Perry, 92, of Xenia, passed away Friday, July 18, 2025 at Wright Rehab and Healthcare Center in Fairborn, OH. He was born January 21, 1933 in Manchester, son of the late Wilbur R. and Marie Graham Perry. He was the widower of the late Hattie Ross Perry, who passed away in 1975, and the late Esther Ann Tincher Perry. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilbur Perry Jr., James and Bill Perry and a sister, Katherine “Sis” Baldwin.
Mr. Perry, a proud Kentucky Colonel, was affectionately known by many as "The Candy Man." Famous for his generosity and sweet spirit, he was rarely seen without a pocket full of homemade candy, which he joyfully passed out to friends, neighbors, and strangers alike—no matter where he was headed. A lifelong buyer and trader, he had a knack for finding treasures and sharing stories. He also brought smiles to the community through the pages of the former Manchester Signal, where he was known for slipping in a good joke or two, always keeping folks laughing.
He is survived by his children, Georgia Perry, Frank (Julie) Perry and Larry Perry; grandchildren, Daniel (Hayley) Perry, Patrick (Michaela) Perry, Nicholas Perry, Mylee (Joe) Timmons and Hattie Perry; great-grandchild, Marley Rose Perry; brother, Virgil Perry as wall as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 2:00 PM, until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 PM, Friday, July 25, 2025 at Wilson Funeral Home, 35 W. Second St., Manchester. Pastor Dave Hopkins will officiate. Burial will follow at Manchester Cemetery.
