Charlie Sims II

Charlie Sims II, age 76, of West Union, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. Charlie was born on February 11, 1950, in Charlestown, Massachusetts, to the late Charlie and June (Johnson) Duval.

Charlie proudly served his community as a member of the Manchester Police Department, Manchester Fire Department, and Manchester Life Squad from 1994 to 1997. He later served as Chief of Police for the West Union Police Department, retiring in the early 2000s after a dedicated career in public service.

Charlie was an avid fisherman and a lover of all things water-related. He was a gifted storyteller with a passion for life, laughter, and sharing memories with those around him. His sense of humor, wisdom, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane Sims of West Union; his children, Roy (Julie) Sims of New Hampshire, Theodore Sims of West Union, Peter (Andrea) Shock of Tipp City, Gregory (Krystiana) Sims of Belleville, Illinois, Brian (Miranda) Sims of Peebles, Brandon (Mariah) Stephenson of Peebles, and Courtney Sims and Justin Siler of Manchester.

He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Stephenson, Daunte Shock, Kaeden Shock, Unique Myles, Maison Shock, Jaden Stephenson, Bayleigh Sims, Rilynn Combess, Michael Sims, Emalyah Stephenson, and Sebastian Sims.

Charlie is further survived by his loving siblings, Linda (Sims) Hunter, David Sims, Sandra Sims, and Johnny (Blanche) Duval of Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Sims III, Forest Sims, Matthew Sims, Julia Sims, Jeffrey Duval and Rebecca Leonard.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 19, 2026 at Noon at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union, with Visitation from 11 to Noon. Owen Applegate will officiate. Burial will follow in the West Union Cemetery. The Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home in West Union is serving the family.
