Carrie Bishop, 85, of Ripley, OH, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2026 at the Ohio Valley Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 16, 1941 in Eubank, KY to the late James E. and Eula E. (Smith) Ruckel. She was a homemaker.
Carrie found joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured the time she spent with her family. She especially loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter, who brought endless happiness to her life. Known for her delicious cheeseburgers and homemade coleslaw, she enjoyed sharing meals and making memories with those she loved. Carrie also enjoyed trying her luck with scratch-off tickets and was always happy to sneak away for a trip to Belterra. Her warm spirit, love for family, and cherished traditions will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Carrie was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Bishop; son, James Alan Bishop; sisters, Faye West and Clara Shoemaker; great granddaughter, Nyla Smith and cherished member of the family, James Lathrop.
Carrie is survived by daughters, Denette Bishop of Winchester, Carla Pritchett and son-in-law, Michael King of Ripley; grandchildren, Joseph (Maria) Puckett, Dwayne Puckett, Brent (Erin) Bishop, Briana Pritchett, Jamie Lee (Terry Stidham) Pritchett, Cody Pritchett, John Paul Lathrop, Jesse Bishop; great grandchildren, Sarah, Ethan, Gabe, King, Branson, Adrienne, Heulyn, Greer, Atlas; great-great granddaughter, Alaina; sisters, Judy Holbrook of Dayton, OH, Bonnie Henderson of Sardinia as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Meeker Funeral Home in Russellville. Joey Puckett will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of the service at 12:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cincinnati Children’s Pediatric Heart.
