Betty Jean Akers

Betty Jean (White) Akers age 88 of West Union, Ohio, passed away at her residence April 17, 2025.  She was born November 25, 1936.

The daughter of the late Howard and Melissa Pearl (Ross) White.  The widow of Frank Akers.   

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by 4 sisters, Ester, Dolly Evelyn and her husband Furman Boldman, Edith Faye and her husband Ed Stump, Hazel Fern and her husband Hayes Cohn; two brothers Howard and his wife Mary White and Ernest and his wife Daisy White.  One step son Freddie Akers and One step daughter Fredia Evans and Great Grandson Chandyn Bryan Brumley.  

Betty is survived by three sons; Forrest Ray, Keith Martin and his wife Angie and Frank Jr; one daughter Donna Jean and her husband Edward Starkey; two step sons Bobby and his wife Faye Akers, Harold Akers and one step daughter Faye and her husband Harry Calloway; several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.   

She loved her children beyond words and looked forward to having holiday and Sunday dinners with family.  She loved her home and enjoyed decorating.  She was a member of Beech Fork Church.  She worked many years in the health field taking care of others and enjoyed her position at Walmart greeting and making over all the babies coming in the store.  

Funeral services will be held Monday April 28, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral Home with Brian Baer officiating.   Burial will follow at the West Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. the day of the service at the funeral home.
