Charles Junior Harmon age 95 years of Bentonville, Ohio passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Harmon was born on December 16, 1923 the son of the late Charles Wesley & Cora (Scott) Harmon in West Union, Ohio. Besides his parents Mr. Harmon was preceded in death by a son James Robert Harmon; sisters Ethel Applegate and Mary Mae Howard; brothers Robert Scott, William Harmon and Richard Harmon.
Mr. Harmon was a member and trustee of the West Union Christian Union Church. A pilot and member of the Adams County Flying Club. A World War II U.S. Army Air Corp. Veteran in the China, Burma, India Theater. Former Lineotype Operator for the People’s Defender, Ironton Daily Tribune and the Portsmouth Times. He was also a local carpenter for many years and later worked at Walmart in the lawn and garden center until the age of 87.
Survivors include his wife Ona Harmon of Bentonville, OH; five children Patricia A. Mustard & Raymond of West Union, OH; Jerry Harmon & Barbara of West Union, OH; Rick Harmon & Sherri of Winchester, OH; David Abbot & Heather of Bentonville, OH; Denise Harmon & Carnell Harris of VA; two brothers Edward C. Harmon & Esther of West Union, OH; Phillip Harmon & Betty of McDermott, OH; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson-Meeker Funeral home with Volley Reed officiating. Burial will be in the West Union Cemetery following cremation. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. the day of the service. With military services by The Adams County Honor Guard.
